How to conjugate verbs in the subjunctive present?

Conjugating in the subjunctive is just like conjugating the normal present tense, but with different endings. As always, you take off the last two letters of the infinitive ('ar', 'er', or 'ir') and then add the right ending. To start, we'll just focus on regular verbs. Here are the subjunctive endings you need to learn:'-ar' verbs:I - eyou - eshe/she/it - e we - emosyou plural - éis they - en'-er' verbs:I - ayou - ashe/she/it - a we - amosyou plural - áis they - an'-ir' verbs:I - ayou - ashe/she/it - a we - amosyou plural - áis they - anThis may look like a lot to learn, but you'll notice that the '-ar' endings are the same as the '-er' endings in the normal present tense, and the subjunctive '-er' and '-ir' verbs take the normal present '-ar'. In other words, the endings are reversed in the subjunctive. However, remember not to use the 'o' ending for the 'I' form of the verb, as this doesn't exist in the subjunctive. Here are some examples of verb conjugation in the subjunctive:I eat (comer) - comaThey live (vivir) - vivanYou talk (hablar) - hablesIt increases (aumentar) - aumenteWe run (correr) - corramosYou plural write (escribir) - escribáisNext up, you'll have to learn how to deal with irregular verbs.
