y = (3t + 1)/p, Where t = 3, and y = 2, what is the value of p?

Firstly, we need to make the unknown variable(p) the subject of the formula. As this is the denominator of a fraction we can multiply both sides of the equation to get rid of the denominator on the right hand side (RHS). This will give us py=3t+1. However, we need p to be on its own so we can divide both sides of the equation by y to remove it from the LHS. This now gives us p=(3t+1)/yAs we can see, t=3 and is multiplied by 3 which will give us 9. Using BIDMAS, we do what is in the brackets of the equation first. 9+1=10 so inside the bracket we have 10. We are given the value of y as 2. So now we know p=10/2 and therefore we know that p=5.
