What is the past perfect/ pluscuamperfecto?

The pluscuamperfecto is a compound tense to express an event that had happened before something else in the past.it is formed with the auxillary 'haber' and the past participle of a verb. Eg- Tu habías leído ese libro antes que to hermana. --- You had read that book before your sister.
