What is the basic biochemistry of carbohydrates?

Three types of carbohydrates: 1. Monosaccharide. "Mono" means one. Contains one sugar monomer. 2. Disaccharide. "Di" means two. Contains two sugar monomers. 3. Polysaccharide. "Poly" means many. Contains more than two sugar monomers. All carbohydrates contain carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. Bonds formed between monomers are called glycosidic bonds.
