Differentiate between a prokaryotic and a eukaryotic cell.

Prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells are the 2 types of cells that exist on Earth.Prokaryotes are single celled organisms that lack a distinct nucleus with a membrane. Their DNA is supercoiled and free floating within the cell. They have ribosomes, but they are smaller than their eukaryotic counterparts and scattered and free floating within the cell. They reproduce asexually through mitosis to produce clones. They can also reproduce sexually through conjugation.Eukaryotes are organisms with complex cells or a single cell with a complex structure. Their DNA is held within a nucleus - a compartment of the cell in which DNA is surrounded by a phospholipid bilayer called the nuclear membrane. Their organelles are also membrane bound, and they have mitochondria, smooth endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi Complex and ribosomes. Their ribosomes are larger than prokaryotes. They can reproduce asexually through mitosis and sexually through meiosis and gamete fusion. They do not have a cell wall (although plants, which are a type of eukaryotic cell, do have a cellulose cell wall).
