What is integration?

when integrating a function which describes a certain curve, the answer we get gives us the area under the curve. When integrating a general polynomial you simply add 1 to the power and divide by the new power. At the end of every inegration you add an integrating constant C.

When dealing with trigonometric functions such as sin, cos or tan, how do you solve the trigonometric equation when the argument of the function(s) is nx, where n is a real number not equal to 1.
