What is the process of mitosis?

A useful mnemonic to remember the stages of mitosis is PMAT. Don’t forget that the cell spends most of its time in interphase, the phase where the DNA is replicated, before moving to mitosis.Prophase- chromosomes condense and shorten, nuclear envelope disintegrates, centrioles move to the poles of the cell, spindle fibres form.Metaphase- chromosomes line up at the equator (or Middle of cell), attached to spindle fibres by their centromere.Anaphase- chromatids of each chromosome are separated and pulled to opposite sides of the cell. Telophase- nucleus reappears and chromosomes disperse and decondense.
