Express x^2 + 10x – 3 in the form (x + p)^2 + q

= We start by halfing the 10 and putting x + 5 in a bracket = (x + 5)^2 = Opening these brackets give us x^2 + 10x + 25 = To make the 25 the same as - 3 we have to minus 28 = Therefore the answer is = (x + 5)^2 - 28= This method is known as "completing the square"
