May/June prose 2018- To Kill a Mockingbird:With reference to the ways Lee presents the people of Maycomb, show that some of the people who live in Maycomb are treated unfairly. Who is treated most unfairly? Give reasons for your opinions.

Firstly, due to exam time limits, I would encourage my pupil critically consider the most relevant characters, as this will provide fruitful and diverse content. For example, Atticus Finch, Tom Robinson, Boo Radley and Mayella Ewell. These characters are key to the novels main plot, making it easier to tease out quotes and examples of unfair treatment. secondly, it is important to write a strong introduction, mapping out for the marker what I will discuss in my answer. Making a point of using the key terms of the question.I would stress the importance of PEE- Point, Example from text and explain in every paragraph, and always refer back to the question when ending each paragraph. I would also draw on the fact that the word "presents" can be interpreted in terms of Narrative and linguistic techniques, which can open up more channels of context within the novel.Thirdly, i would draw on the importance of making a strong conclusion to summarise on all key points made within the essay answer, also making sure to refer it back to the key terms of the question.
