A DNA molecule is double stranded and arranged in a helical structure. The two strands are made up of a sugar phosphate 'backbone' where the sugar is attached to a base and a phosphate group, the sugar is deoxyribose. Weak interactions between the bases hold the two strands together.Adenine (A) bases form bonds with thymine (T) bases on the opposing strand, and Cytosine (C) bases form bonds with Guanine (G) bases on the opposing strand. These are complementary base pairs.
