A diabetes patient injects insulin before meals. State whether the patient has Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes and explain why?

The patient has Type 1 Diabetes. In Type 1 diabetes the pancreas stops producing enough insulin to control the blood glucose levels, therefore injecting insulin helps to control this. In Type 2 diabetes the pancreas still produces enough insulin but the body's cells do not respond to it. Injecting insulin would therefore not help to control blood glucose levels in Type 2 diabetes.
