What are the differences between the psychological approaches and how to compare them?

The approaches differ in terms of views, how they were developed and how they are applied in modern psychology whether it be studies or treating patients. Since the actual content is typically easier to grasp compared to the evaluation (what is good or bad about the approach), it helps to associate the evaluation points with content points especially when some of the evaluation points are similar across all of the approaches. There are obvious and subtle differences. For example the key difference between the biological approach and the behavioural approach is that they look at the human mind with a very scientific and social view respectively. Hence they can both be used to criticise each other which is a more refined version of evaluation that can be learned.
The main way to compare the approaches is using the concepts learned in the issues and debates module of the syllabus - reductionism vs holism, free will vs determinism and nature-nurture debate are particularly good in this instance. In an essay question using these concepts not only will will hit the explaining the concept target but also evaluating it all whilst comparing and actually answering the question. There are different techniques that come down to planning, memorisation/understanding and the use of tables for the approaches is great.
