Explain the causes of the Second World War.

To achieve top marks when tackling an 'explain' question, it is important to not only have 3 reasons for why something happened, but also to prioritise and link these reasons. For example, it is not enough just to say:The state of Germany's economy Rise of Nazism/FascismTensions with Britain/FranceEach of these reasons need to have expanded explanations for a standard mark. However, a higher level answer would further explain how one of these reasons LED to the other, i.e. The worsening state of Germany's economy allowed for extremist politics to come to the fore, allowing Hitler and the Nazi Party to appeal to the general population and gain power. A vital reason for the decline in the German economy was due to economic sanctions imposed on them by the Allies following the First World War, thus leading to the tensions between Germany and Britain and France.
