Explain why Christians might provide a religious upbringing for their children.

Many Christian couples will feel motivated to raise their children as Christians for a number of reasons. Firstly, many Christians believe that only those who know and believe in the Christian God can reach salvation and that the rest will be damned. This belief is often referred to as exclusivism (meaning Christians exclusively have access to heaven/salvation/God). Out of love for their children then, Christian parents with such a belief are extremely likely to teach Christianity to their children to give them the best chance of being saved in the Christian faith. Secondly, many Christians draw the majority of their moral principles from their faith and their scripture (the Bible). Christian parents are therefore likely to believe that they best way they can teach their child to be a good moral person and a good member of society is to teach them Christian morals. For example, the 10 commandments are the moral fundamentals of Christianity. By teaching this to their children, parents can hope that their children will grow up to be good people by Christian standards.
