How can I distil all of my quotes so I can remember them for the exam?

In my revision for my English Lit A Level, I used quote banks to organise my ideas and make essay planning more efficient. These are tables in which the left side shows themes within the text and the top has the names of characters. Therefore, if your essay title was about the theme of death in Hamlet, you could use the quotes from boxes in your table which correspond to the theme of death, and separate your paragraphs into separate characters, either in the scenes of their own death or their overall attitude toward it. Thus, the process of planning your essays becomes much easier. As you write more practice essays and study your texts more, your quote bank will become bigger with more themes and ideas which you can then apply within the exam. This method can also be applied to context and critics for your essays!
