Give one reason as to why is it important that Carbon dioxide (CO2) is removed from the blood ?

In the blood, the enzyme carbonic anhydrase allows water and CO2 to combine to form hydrogen carbonate ions and hydrogen ions. In the presence of many hydrogen ions, oxygen has a weaker affinity for haemoglobin, therefore reducing oxygen transport. If theres less oxygen being carried, then cells become starved of oxygen. This eventually leads to cell death.
