How do you form the perfect tense?

The perfect tense is formed of an auxilary verb (which is either être or avoir) and a past participle.Verbs take être if they are one of the MRSVANDERTRAMP words, or if they involve moving from place to place. (I would use a whiteboard here to show this)To form the past participle the 3 different types of verbs - -ER, -IR and - RE verbs have different endings. -ER Verbs - you take away the R and make it é e.g. jouer --> joué -IR Verbs - you take away the R e.g. finir --> fini -RE Verbs - change to a U ending e.g. rendre --> renduSubject + Auxiliary verb + Past Participle = Perfect TenseJ'ai jouéTu as finiIl a rendu
