How long should I spend on each question?

This question differs depending on the way in which the exam board structures both the timings and the total marks. To illustrate, if the exam is sixty minutes long and the total marks then this would suggest that for each minute of the exam you should be gaining one mark. Furthermore, in this scenario, if the question is worth ten marks then ten minutes should be spent on it. Many refer to this as a mark per minute. To work this out, if you divide the total minutes by the total amount of marks, the total tells you how long you should be spending on the question.
