When should we use the French "imparfait"?

The tense "imparfait" is formed by removing the ending -ONS from the nous form of the present indicative and adding the following endings:-ais for je/I-ais for tu/you-ait for elle-il-on/she-he-it-we-ions for nous/we-iez for vous/you-aient for ils-elles/theyExample: je visitais - I visited, j'aimais-I loved
This tense is used when talking about:1.    events in the past that have no clear beginning or end :Le soleil se couchait.   The sun was setting.2.    two actions that take place at the same time in the past:Pendant que vous étiez en France, j'étais en Angleterre.      While you were in France, I was in England.3.     routine events in the past:Chaque année, je passais l'été à la plage.      Every year, I spend the summer at the beach.
