Describe the effect of temperature on enzyme activity.

Enzyme activity increases as temperature increases. This is because collisions between the substrate and the active site happen more frequently. At higher temperatures enzymes denature and are unable to catalyse further reactions. This is because the heat causes bonds in the enzyme's active site to break.
