The Red Army were not only the most significant reason Lenin strengthened control over Russia but also critical to implementing the one party state, The Red Army were comprised of 300,000 men and Trotsky helped structure and organise the army. The Red Army not only took control but also helped defeat the Whites. By taking control of factories, the Red Army were able to continue growing as they could produce more ammunition than the Whites. This infers not only did the Red Army help strengthen Lenin’s control by taking charge of infrastructure like the factories, but also beat his opponents to form the one party state. Therefore the Red army were the most significant reason why Lenin was able to strengthen his control.
