Thermoregulatory homeostasis helps to maintain the core body temperature at 37 degrees Celsius. When we are too hot the body's sweat glands secrete sweat onto the skin which then evaporates, allowing us to cool down. The blood capillaries also vasodilate allowing a larger blood flow closer to the skin to dissipate heat. When we are too cold the body's skeletal muscle involuntarily contracts to produce heat energy to keep us warm. the blood capillaries will vasocontrict to reduce the volume of blood flowing close to the skin and help maintain the core temperature. Negative feedback loops are used to send messages to the hypothalamus to help us maintain our body temperature.
