Compare the structure of eukaryotic and prokaryotic organisms

Typically, such questions are 6 markers. Prokaryotic cells are often found in bacteria, the smallest organisms, often made out of single cells. Eukaryotic cells are much more complex and are often found in animals, plants or fungi. How do they compare?Differences:Prokaryotic cells are often much smaller in size. They are often only between 0.2-2.0 micrometers. The genetic material (DNA) freely floats in the cytoplasm of prokaryotic cells. Whereas, the DNA of eukaryotes is found contained inside the nucleus.Prokaryotes have additional DNA called plasmids. Eukaryotic cells rarely have them.Prokaryotic cells undergo cell division via binary fission. Eukaryotic cells divide through mitosis.Eukaryotic cells have mitochondria, reticulum, which are absent in prokaryotic cells.
Similarities:Both type of cells possess ribosomes. However, eukaryotic ribosomes are bigger (80s) in comparison to prokaryotic cells (70s).Both eukaryotes and prokaryotes are bounded by a cell membrane.Prokaryotes have a cell wall. Similarly, eukaryotic cells like plant cells also possess a cell wall.
