All tickets to the movie theatres cost the same price. Jessica and Thomas pay £84 together. Jessica pays £38.5 for 11 tickets. How many does Thomas Buy?

Firstly, you form the question into an equation. for example, J + T = 84. We know Jessica paid £38.50, so now we can add that to the equation. 38.50 + T = 84. Now that we have does this we move the 38.5 to the other side of the equation, making sure that we also swap the addition to subtraction, which would now give us the equation, T = 45.5. That means Thomas has paid £45.5, so now we must work out how much Jessica paid for each of her tickets by dividing the total by the number of tickets. 38.5 ÷ 11 = 3.5. If it is £3.5 per ticket, now we divide what Thomas paid for his tickets overall, by the individual price of each ticket to get our answer.
45.5 ÷ 3.5 = 13 Tickets.
