Explain what is meant by a life-cycle assessment.

An assessment of the impact a product will have on the environment throughout each stage of its life cycle, from the cradle to the grave. Examples of these stages are; raw materials extraction, manufacturing, distribution, repair, use, maintenance and disposal or recycling.
