The range of a set of numbers is 15 1/4. The smallest number is –2 7/8. Work out the largest number.

First we need to understand what the range is. It is the difference between the smallest and largest numbers in a sample or list or numbers. If we add the range on to the smallest number we get the largest number.If the smallest number is -2 7/8 then the largest number is 15 1/4 bigger than this. We simply add -2 7/8 and 15 1/4 to get 12 3/8.
