Houses lose majority of their energy through the roof and windows. State the three methods of energy transfer. For the roof and windows respectively, describe one adaptation that could be made to improve their efficiency and explain their method.

Conduction, Convection, Radiation
Roof: Insulation. Material reduces conduction as it is a greater inductor of heat than air. Material reduces convection currents as the air gaps are now too small for a convection currents to form. Tiles material. Silver (shiny/light coloured) tiles to reduce emission by radiation. Flat tiles to reduce surface area on which emission can occur. Window: Double/triple glazing. Small air gap stops convection currents flowing/ Vacuum to stop and convection currents. Also the air/vacuum provides a layer of insulation to reduce conduction.
