How should I cope with time management in the abstract reasoning section?

Time management in the abstract reasoning section was one of the hardest parts of my UKCAT (now UCAT) preparation. There were a few strategies that I used in the end. The first was to learn all of the various keyboard shortcuts - being able to press F to flag a question, for instance, saved valuable time instead of using the mouse.
More importantly however, I'd advise not to have any qualms about skipping questions. Some patterns are immediately obvious whilst some take minutes to decipher - and missing easy questions at the end of the paper loses valuable marks. As such, I'd skip through the segment initially, only answering the easiest questions and flagging those that you've skipped. Then, after completing it the first time, return to the tougher segments. Be strict with this - the timings are so quick that even taking a single minute too long can lose up to 5 marks on an easy segment later on in the paper.
