¿Cómo podemos distinguir entre los usos del tiempo imperfecto y el pretérito?

I would start my giving a brief definition of the two tenses and their uses, i.e. the imperfect tense is used for an action that has occurred more than once in the past, on a regular basis or simply a number of time, whereas, the preterite tense is used to describe an action that has definitively started and finished. Secondly, I would give examples of the two tenses as grammar can sometimes seem complicated in a foreign language. Then I would give some further explanation of verbs and phrases that specifically require or precede the two tenses. Below I have put a model answer as a brief example.
