What should a personal statement include?

A personal statement should aim to give a concise snapshot of yourself, your personal and academic interests, and how these justify your application to the specific university and course. You should start by giving a brief overview of yourself followed by your academic and extra-curricular interests (including any specific achievements you have obtained). This should then link to your reasoning behind applying for the specific university and course. In this part you should try avoid being vague, but rather provide specific examples wherever possible. For example, you should pick certain modules that attract you the most and specify why - this would show you have actually researched into the course. You should then try to give the reader an idea of where you see yourself in a few years, and convince them on how the university and course would be your ticket of entry to your career vision.
