How should I structure a 12 mark essay?

Structuring your essay answer correctly is an important habit to adopt when trying to get the top band marks for your answers. The best way to structure an essay would be to start with what sides you are going to discuss.
For example: 'Discuss how far sociologists agree that the main function of education is to serve the needs of the economy.'
We should know that the question is asking for a Marxism VS Alternative Theory debate. You will start by outlining the argument and then go straight into your first half of the debate and try and target evaluate as you go on. Then bring in alternative theories as the other half of your argument, using relevant examples. The last thing to do is conclude your argument, ensuring you have followed the argument you are trying to make, and maybe even evaluate the question for those top band marks.
