Tom bought a full bag of coal. After one week the bag was 2/3 full. During the next week he used 1/4 of the remaining coal. How much is left?

This question is going to involve multiplying fractions. The question tells us that in the first week 1/3 of the coal was used, and 2/3 was left. Then in the second week the used 1/4 of the remainders, leaving him with 3/4 of the 2/3 of coal.To find the answer we have to multiply 3/4 by 2/4 Multiplying the top line, 3x2 = 6Multiplying the bottom line 4x3 = 12So 6/12 = 1/2 The answer is that 1/2 of the bag of coal is left
