Annie and Louis are going to the cinema with their friends. Annie buys two adult tickets and a popcorn for £18.Louis buys 4 adult tickets and 3 popcorn buckets for £45. How much is a ticket and a popcorn bucket?

Ticket = T, popcorn bucket = PAnnie - 2T+P=18 (1)Louis - 4T + 3P = 45 (2)

scaling up:
(1) x 3:
6T + 3P= 54 (3)
solving:(3)-(2)2T = 9T = 4.5substitute back in2T + p = 18(2 x4.5) +p = 189+p= 18p = 9An adult ticket is £4.5 and a popcorn bucket is £9

How would you solve the simultaneous equations 2x + y = 7 and 3x - y = 8

The range of a set of numbers is 15 1/4. The smallest number is –2 7/8. Work out the largest number.

Solve the simultaneous equations. 3x + 5y = 1 , 2x - 3y = 7

Simplify (8x^2 + 36x)/(2x + 9) and explain why it is an even expression.
