GCSE To Kill A Mockingbird Question - Who are the mockingbird figures in the novel and what is their significance to the novel as a whole?

This is an example of how to structure a question in an exam.
INTRODUCTION:Time constraint in an exam means that you will need to write an essay that signposts exactly what your essay is about - you will start of by doing this in your introduction. Here you tell the examiner exactly what you will be answering and this way they know that you know what you will go on to talk about.e.g. "Harper Lee uses the characters Tim Robinson and Boo Radley to illustrate the metaphor of the mockingbird. These two figures play a significant role in Lee's novel and are used throughout the story to demonstrate the flaws in society in their treatment of certain individuals. These two men are treated badly by the rest of society despite not having done anything wrong. I will explore the way in which Lee showcases the characters' likeness to the mockingbird by drawing examples from various episodes throughout the novel."
2ND PARAGRAPH:In this paragraph you may wish to include any definitions or explanations that are needed. Here you should explain the reference to "mockingbird" and why this imagery is used throughout the novel and what it means.e.g. "In the novel Atticus, a central figure of justice, tells Jem and Scout about his belief that mockingbirds should not be shot. He says "Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit 'em, but remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird." Miss Maudie supports Atticus by telling Scout, "Mockingbirds don't do one thing but make music for us to enjoy... but sing their hearts out for us. That's why it's a sin to kill a mockingbird."
3RD PARAGRAPH:Explain how Boo Radley is used to illustrate the mockingbird figure - pick two or three key scenes - including quotes to support the position.Use the formula of Point - example - explanation (The point being mentioned once that Boo is used to illustrate the mockingbird figure, and with 2 or 3 examples and explanations)
4TH PARAGRAPH:Use the same formula for Tim Robinson as detailed in the fourth paragraph
CONCLUSION:Here you should provide a general summary of your main points. You do not introduce any new points. Repeat a general statement of why Tim and Boo are significant to the story and perhaps a personal opinion of why it is significant you or the readers in general.
