How can I use the plus-que-parfait to vary verb tenses in my writing?

The "plus-que-parfait" tense is used with another tense in the past (passé composé or passé simple)to express the antecedence of an action compared to a past action. For example: They (girls) told me that he had never seen her.Elles m'ont dit qu'il ne l'avait jamais vu. This tense is composed quite similarly to passé composé where the auxiliary is conjugated in the present tense for Passé composé when forming plus question parfait you should use an auxiliary verb of être or avoir in the imperfect (imparfait) tense and the corresponding past participle. You should remember when to use avoid or être using the mnemonic 'mrs vandertramp'In the example above Il ne l'avait jamais vu The bold term= the verb avoid conjugated in imperfect tense The underlined term= The past participle of the verb voir .
