Describe the similarities and differences between simple and facilitated diffusion?

Simple diffusion consists of molecules moving from an area of high concentration to low concentration, down their concentration gradient. Facilitated diffusion also involves molecules travelling from and are of high concentration to low concentration, however with the aid of transmembrane integral proteins. Both processes are a form of passive transport and consist of molecules crossing a biological membrane.
