How should I start my portfolio?

Each portfolio must be showing development backed up with explanations for a final outcome. You should start off with 6-7 artists which will be part of the possible starting points and ideas you enjoy related to the main art theme given/chosen. Then you will have to take personal pictures (either of yourself or pictures you have taken by yourself) and try to recreate the artists work by adding a touch of yourself. (something that defines or reflects you and this could be anything). By moving from one artist to another you must encapsulate features or aspects from the artists into your own work until a final outcome is formed based on all the ideas and inspirations you have collected and combined throughout time. Moreover, the use of different media is crucial for gcse level, so that you can test yourself and examine which one suits you the best or you enjoy the most. For every choice you make in terms of materials and artists you must always explain your train of thought so that other people can follow while reading through your portfolio.
