Why does how I structure my essay matter?

Producing a well structured essay will go a long way in encouraging the examiner to really engage with your work from the offset. Firstly, a clear and concisely written essay is far more visually pleasing than one that has been chaotically assembled. Although it may seem like the more the boring method, having an introduction, main body, and conclusion clearly laid out immediately tells the examiner that you know exactly what you are talking about. In this way, the students' essay is imbued with a subtle tone of confidence before the examiner has even begun to read it. As well as being beneficial for the examiner, a well structured essay will aid the student in keeping track of their train of thought. Adhering to a set structure will reduce the chance of the student going off on a tangent and wasting unnecessary time in the exam hall. Instead of trying to find their way back from said tangent, the student will be able to engage with the essay question in greater depth. Please note that there are countless other reasons why structure is an imperative part of essay writing and the above exert has only briefly outlined a few. Esther xx
