The Imperfect tense is used to describe an ongoing action in the past, it is commonly translated with the word 'was' in English. The endings of the imperfect tense are tacked onto the stem of a verb, the endings are as follows; I - Bam We - Bamus You - Bas You - Batis He/She/It - Bat They - Bant
For example, amo = I love amabam = I was loving amabant = they were loving
