When to use the verb "ser" or "estar"?

The Spanish verbs "ser" and "estar" both mean "to be " but they are used differently."Ser" is used for a permanent state (that don't change). E.g.: "Soy una mujer" - I'm a woman."Estar" is used to indicate a state that presents itself now but may change later (temporary). Eg.: "Estoy contento" - I'm happy.
Some states can take both "ser" and "estar". However, the meaning of the sentence will change. "Soy aburrido" - I'm boring. In using "ser" there's an indication that "boring" is a permanent state. Therefore, "aburrido" is a characteristic."Estoy aburrido"- Im bored. In using "estar" there's an indication that "bored" is a temporary state. Therefore, "aburrido" is a mood.
