How do I differentiate between masculine and female nouns?

It is often difficult to tell if a French noun is feminine or masculine. There are some tricks to knowing the difference though. Feminine nouns usually end in 'e' or 'ion' whereas for masculine nouns it's 'age', 'ege', 'isme' and pretty much anything else. Remember these endings are masculine or feminine the majority of the time but there are some exceptions!
