How do you make it clear what your argument is when you have to use scholars and sources too?

This is actually one of the things that people struggle with the most, so you're not alone there! The important thing to remember is that you are using the scholars and the sources to support your argument, not using your essay to show their's off. Picking the relevant sources is what will initially prop up your argument and show that you understand the content you are discussing. Next, selecting relevant scholars allows you to not only show off your skills in arguing by discussing and debating what the scholar says, but can emphasise your own ideas by using their opinions to either support yours or to add contrast so that yours stands out.Make sure that you always hold on to your argument first and foremost, and don't let the idea that these are 'scholars' mean that you can't use them for your own argument or disagree with what they've said. Your voice matters, and holds as much weight as theirs does!
