How should I structure my essays?

I always prioritise having a really bulletproof, strong structure - especially in the time constraints of a exam. I like to come up with my subtitles before I start writing, both to make sure I cover all the relevant points, come up with a balanced argument and show my own breadth of knowledge. Plus, having subtitles really helps to signpost what you're trying to say and makes it easier for the marker to realise what your argument is.
