How does substrate concentration affect the rate of enzyme activity?

As the concentration of substrate increases, the rate of enzyme activity increases. The optimum rate is reached at the enzymes optimum substrate concentration. The enzymes become saturated and no more substrates can fit the enzymes.A continued increase in substrate concentration doesn't increase the enzyme activity. The rate will remain at the optimum rate for the enzyme no matter how much substrate is added.
