How do you prepare an insolvent salt by precipitation?

Firstly, add two solutions of soluble compounds. Eg when making MgCl2, add Magnesium Nitrate and Sodium Chloride, as these two solutions are soluble. Then, mix the two solutions together in a beaker, filter them using filter paper. Wash the solution several times using deionised water, then leave to dry, or place in an oven.
