find x: e^(3x-9) = 8

use rules: ln e^x = x*ln(e) and ln(e) = 1. find natural log of each side: (3x-9)ln(e)=ln(8). rearrange: x= (ln(8)+9)/3

Find the values of x where the curve y = 8 -4x-2x^2 crosses the x-axis.

The gradient of a curve is given by dy/dx = 3 - x^2. The curve passes through the point (6,1). Find the equation of the curve.

What is the chain rule and how does it work?

How do you go about sketching a curve when all you are given is the equation?
