The personal statement is supposed to be an academic statement, dmeonstarting your personally and interests to your prospective universities and explaining how you will be a good choice for the degree.
You should ideall have 75:25 split academic:extra-curricular information, with a strong opening and closing sentence. Wider readinga round the subject, career motivations, lessons learned from your current studies, work experience (both releveant and other types), key extra-curricular acheivements and anything else that you've done to further your interest in the subject for which you are applying, are all useful piecees of information to include. It's also important that for everything that you include, you reflect on the experience and relate it back to why you would be a good candidate for the course for which you are applying.
Remember that although you need to make a good impression, your statement must showcase who YOU are as an individual so try and keep it as authentiic as possible.
