Why is Evil a problem

Evil is a problem because of how various religions present their God. For Christians, God is a merciful and just God who repays the righteous and punishes the wrong doers. However, in the context of the just suffering as in the example of natural disasters, it presents God as unjust and wicked. The problem of evil is the stronghold of atheists and the weakness of theists. Conversely, the benevolence of God is the strenght of theists and the problem of atheists.

However, as long as there are unanswered questions to why the innocent suffer, evil continues to be a problem in religion
