What is an effective way to help me learn the IPA?

I find using flashcard techniques showing the symbol on one side then the sound and the sound within a word on the other. You can also do this online through websites such as memerise. Each day try and teach yourself one or two sounds and soon you'll be confident in the whole alphabet.
