What are the different types of nouns?

The key thing to remember is that nouns are names. There are a few types of nouns but their names are often quite self explanatory which makes them fairly easy to remeber. The most important types of nouns are:Proper nouns: names of people& places. Eg. Paris, Big Ben, Julia. (They alway have capital letters) Collective nouns: names of groups. Eg. jury, choir, family, team.Abstract nouns: names of things that have no physicial existence. Eg, love, justice, feelings, emotion, humour.Concrete nouns: names of things with physical existence. Eg cat, table, tree, car, heat. Compound nouns: names of things that contain two or more words in one noun. Eg cheesecake, mother-in-law, doorstep.
